Back in 2007 a US Democratic State Senator, Ernie Chambers, from Nebraska filed a suit against God for causing various natural disasters and for not stopping the threat of terrorism.
In court papers, Chambers claimed he was forced to file the suit because he tried severally to discuss the matter privately with God without success.
Eventually, the suit was thrown out not because it was considered frivolous but because God could not be served notice of the suit as he had no fixed address though Chambers argued that since God is omnipresent he was aware of the suit and so could be considered to have been served.
Incidentally, there was a highly successful 2001 Australian comedy film with the title, “The man who sued God.”
It is not clear whether it was that movie that inspired Senator Chambers to do his own real life stunt in a US court.
Only in America!
